RedUsers summary of FLISOL 2011

The online community RedUsers had an interview with Hernan Saltiel, technical coordinator of FLISOL 2011. In his interview, he comments:

  • The final score was 50 machines with free software installed of which we only had one loss, so the result is quite positive
  • The two best speeches were "Linux and the common user", given by Federico Wiemeyer and "Security in Linux" given by Matías Katz (Thank you HeCSa :) :) )
  • We did so well that we plan on doing the Solution Day, later on, that will be an event destined to all people who went to FLISOL and wants to learn more from what they installed and the things they can do to his free software machine
  • We installed mostly notebooks and netbooks, three servers, and some desktops

Flisol 2011: What happened

FLISOL 2011 has been fantastic. I don't know how many people were in total, but at the hallways, classrooms and the installation room there were always many people passing by.

As for my talk on Linux Security, I must say that I'm quite happy with the level of assistance (and permanence) I had.

All the modules were 50 minutes long, however my talk lasted for 2 hours and absolutely NOBODY got up of his/her chair. The organization staff simply let me continue with my talk even after the event was finished, simply because people wouldn't leave and kept asking me questions :)

It was an absolute total success. I'd like to thank the 80-90 pople that stayed for the 2 hour talk, you showed that you were able to comprehend and absorve the issues that were discussed.

You can download the PDF showed in class here (Spanish)

I'll upload the recording of the talk, as soon as I'm finished editing it.

Here are some pictures of the event. To see more pictures, please go to Kant's Picasa Album

I'd like to thank the people of FLISOL for their collaboration and for allowing me to lecture.

Bye to all, see you in the next event!

I’ll see you in Flisol Buenos Aires 2011

This Saturday, April 9th, will be the  FLISoL (LatinAmerican Free Software Installation Festival) 2011.
